Here's a simple, obvious way to address the ongoing climate catastrophe: Make it fun and rewarding to tackle it, as a personal and social activity. "Gamify" it! Give points, rankings and digital trophies. A fitness app for the planet. Apparently modern humans need to get encouragement from a mobile screen, so how about a digital coach in the form of a personalised interactive planet? One for all ages and walks of life. Many people are also highly competitive and that energy can be harnessed to create vital and urgent change!
Motivate and incentivise humanity towards sustainable living, via an app and a collaborative partnership scheme, open to organisations of all sizes, from all sectors. Maintain focus on wellbeing, positivity and constructive engagement. Encourage personal and community involvement.
It's worth noting that Facebook alone can influence a third of humanity. For them, such a project would be effortless and they could certainly use the good PR. Persuading them to engage with the climate movement, as part of their much-touted "Social Good" policy, would create enormous traction. Governments and companies must collaborate to tackle the climate crisis and this concept suggests an ethical and achievable way to get the ball rolling.
